NHL Stupidity

After seeing Rick DiPietro getting a 15 year, $60 million contract, I can now unequiocably say that Islander's owner Charles Wang has surpassed Bill Wirtz of the Chicago Blackhawks as the worst owner in the NHL. With this type of stupidity, I know that shorting Wang's company, Computer Associates (CA/NYSE) is a sure money maker. This passes the Blackhawks giving Martin Havlat $18 million/3-year deal and the Bruins shelling out all that money for Martin Lapointe. As Nate once said, "the owners needed a salary cap to stop spiralling player salaries?"

But Mitch, has Wang demonstrated the consistency of the Ford family handling of the Detroit Lions. Sure, anyone can be a Bozo on any given deal, such as the DiPietro fiasco, but it requires a certain skill to maintain mediocrity for fifty years. Is there a word that describes someone who gives 100% effort time and again only to be bested by average competitors operating at 75%? Loser doesn't quite get it.
